36 Days of type

36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers to express their particular interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet. It’s a yearly open call where participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days. I participated in the project in 2022, with one of my numbers being featured on the highly regarded 36 Days of Type Instagram page. My design intention was for each submission to feel like a classic logo trademark, the sort of trademark you’d see on the side of a train or pressed into concrete. They all have a geometrical foundation, and all work in one colour. I also gave myself a restricted colour palette to work within. The result is a set of marks that feel related, and could work in real life as authoritative and timeless logos.
